Show the XML inside an e-invoice PDF
ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and XRechnung PDFs carry the real invoice as an XML attachment. Upload one to see that XML, copy it or download it. Free, no signup.

Where the XML lives
A hybrid e-invoice is a PDF/A-3 file with the structured invoice attached as an “associated file”. The attachment is named factur-x.xml (Factur-X and ZUGFeRD 2.1+), zugferd-invoice.xml (ZUGFeRD 2.0), ZUGFeRD-invoice.xml (ZUGFeRD 1.0) or xrechnung.xml (XRECHNUNG profile). The PDF’s XMP metadata says which profile the XML follows.
The XML, not the visible PDF page, is what accounting software reads. When the two disagree, the XML is the invoice, so it is worth checking what it actually says.
Next step: is it compliant?
Seeing the XML does not tell you whether it follows the rules. The e-invoice validator checks the same PDF for PDF/A-3 conformance, Factur-X metadata and the EN 16931, Factur-X or XRechnung 3.0.2 business rules.
